What Is a UAE Notarial Power of Attorney?
A Power of Attorney (PoA) is a legal document that authorises a designated person (the agent) to act on behalf of another person (the principal) in specified legal, financial, or property matters. In the UAE, notarial powers of attorney are issued and registered through the UAE Notary Public system and are legally enforceable across all UAE Emirates.
Our remote PoA service uses the official BOTIM video notarisation platform, which is authorised by UAE notary authorities for remote certification. The resulting document carries the same legal weight as one signed in person at a notary office in Dubai.
Who This Is For
This service is most commonly used by:
- Non-residents who need someone in the UAE to act on their behalf — for property transactions, company matters, or banking — without traveling to Dubai
- Residents who are abroad and need to delegate authority for an urgent UAE matter
- Business owners authorising employees or partners to sign documents, open accounts, or represent the company before government authorities
- Property buyers and sellers delegating transaction authority to a trusted representative or agent
- Individuals undergoing legal proceedings in the UAE who need to appoint a legal representative
Scope of the Power of Attorney
A UAE PoA can be general (covering a broad range of actions) or specific (limited to a particular transaction or authority). We draft both types and recommend the appropriate scope based on your intended use.
- Property PoA: buy, sell, lease, mortgage real estate in the UAE
- Company PoA: sign contracts, represent at government departments, open bank accounts
- Banking PoA: operate bank accounts, transfer funds, close accounts
- Legal PoA: represent in UAE court or arbitration proceedings
- General PoA: broad authority across multiple categories
Process — Step by Step
1
Consultation & Scope Agreement
We discuss what the PoA needs to cover. You provide passport copies for both the principal (you) and the agent (the person you're authorising). We confirm the scope and price.
2
PoA Drafting
We prepare the PoA text in English and arrange the Arabic translation required for UAE notarisation. You review and approve the draft before proceeding.
3
Arabic Translation
The PoA is translated into Arabic by a licensed translator. Both language versions are included in the final document, as UAE courts require Arabic.
4
Video Notary Call (BOTIM)
We schedule a brief video call with the UAE notary via BOTIM. You appear on camera, confirm your identity with your passport, and verbally confirm the PoA contents. The notary certifies and registers the document.
5
PDF Delivery with QR Code
The certified PoA is delivered to you as a PDF with an embedded QR code that links to the official UAE notary registry record. Third parties can scan the QR code to verify authenticity instantly.
Important Requirements
Please read these carefully before booking — missing any of these conditions may result in a failed notary session without a refund.
- Valid passport for both the principal and the agent (clear colour scans)
- Active phone number and email for both parties
- BOTIM app installed on your smartphone (free download, iOS and Android)
- Stable internet connection for the video call — video must be clear
- The principal must attend the video call on time. A missed or failed call results in forfeiture of the notary fee (included in the 3,000 AED price)
- The agent does not need to attend the video call — only the principal (person granting the PoA)
Validity and Revocation
A UAE notarial PoA remains valid until its stated expiry date (if any), until the purpose is fulfilled, or until formally revoked. Revocation must be done through a UAE notary. If you need a PoA with a specific validity period or automatic expiry, let us know when we draft the document.
